Korean Student Tell-all: Why You Must Study in PIA
Hello! I’m Kim Kyeong Hyeon but you can call me Bob. I am from Korea and I am a Chon Buk student studying E-commerce and English here in the Philippines for more than one month already. This is the first travel outside my country. When I first came here I was expecting for many oceans and landscapes but then Baguio City is a mountainous city, which means that there is no ocean here haha! But as time goes by, I saw a lot of beautiful landscapes here in Baguio City like Mines View, Botanical Garden and Burnham Park.
Studying in University of the Cordilleras for my E-commerce class and studying English in Pines International Academy is difficult, but it is a very good way to improve myself more. I can concentrate more.
In UC, we need to partner up with some Filipino students .In this way ,I was able to improve my communication skills because we use English language and not only that- I also made some foreign friends.
I will never forget those days when we had fun together with Filipino friends. We went to Good taste Restaurant to eat delicious food then went to Centermall (I really love Centermall) then we played bowling and others. My UC friend ” Mark Joseph ” became my best friend.
The first time I attended PIA class, I was scared because we are going
to use English, but teacher Huller made me feel comfortable in our class. I study English in the morning and study E-commerce in the afternoon, it is really a good way to learn a lot.
One of our achievements is also the success of our TAL-K event, we presented our projects, shared our culture and I felt like a celebrity because a lot of people wanted to take photos with me. haha! Maybe because many people here want Korean Drama.
Filipinos are also very kind to me, they are trying to understand what I want to say. I know that my teachers are having a hard time because I ask a lot of questions but they always make feel pleased.
One more fun thing in the Philippines is after studying on weekdays, I can go out during weekends with my friends to explore other cities. I searched places on the Internet and then we went to Hundred Islands and I was expecting that I will see what I saw on the Internet, but I didn’t see that at first. When we finally started to do island hopping (we were on the boat) I was so surprise to see that the sea is so transparent. The ocean is so clear unlike Korea because the waters there are so polluted. It is my first time to see transparent sea! I now know why it is called Hundred Islands, because there are many islands in that place.
We did diving and snorkeling, we also wanted to try zip line but the wind was so strong.
During lunch in Hundred Islands many Filipino people helped us because we didn’t have any materials to cook our food so we were so pleased when they really helped us to look for grills and others. We practiced English because of this.
When I go back to Korea, I will really miss a lot but that’s okay because I can
communicate with them through Facebook. I had a lot of experiences that I will keep.
If you want to study English hard then I really recommend PIA to you but if you just want to play then don’t come here. PIA is a place for you to study and improve yourself not to just play.
