Doing what is right is a common knowledge to everyone, but applying it to oneself is a courageous decision.  Read another story of a taxi driver who chose to bend over backwards to do what is right.

On December 9, 2017, Ms. Summer, a Japanese staff from Pines International Academy, left her iPod and pocket Wi-Fi in the taxi that brought her to Cooyeesan Hotel Plaza . She then thought that she had a slim chance of getting her items back since Cooyeesan is a big building with several offices, and there are a lot of foreigners within the area.

However, her conclusion turned into its opposite when the taxi driver who brought her to the building came by. Jayrah Bayanes (Taxi Driver) with his son roamed around Cooyeesan Hotel Plaza to look for the owner of the items.  He searched for Pines International Academy, Bridging Campus Office and looked for Ms. Summer. He drives a taxi which has a name “Xendrickito”. Staffs and managers were surprised with the act of kindness and honesty of the driver, so in return; they decided to give a simple token of appreciation.

He even posted on Facebook to look for the owner of the items he found.

To be honest, I didn’t expect that the driver will try to look for me just to return my items. I was so touched with his kindness.” Ms. Summer stated. She also said that she appreciates what  Jayrah did. She added that the situation did not happen only once because she also experienced this 3 weeks ago. She is so convinced that Baguio Taxi drivers are genuinely kind.

“I am ashamed of myself. 3 weeks ago, I was in the same situation. When I went back to Chapis from Cooyeesan, I realized that my iPod touch and pocket Wi-Fi were not with me. I was comfortable with the thought that I only left them in the office. After an hour, one staff came to my room to ask me if the pocket Wi-Fi and iPod touch are mine. I was surprised. The taxi driver came back all the way to Chapis just to return my belongings. I was so happy (lucky)… hehehe”

Ms. Summer bowing to show gratitude to Mr. Bayanes

Truly, those Baguio taxi drivers deserve a commendation for their honesty. Another Inspiration for a kind and honest act arises in the City of Baguio.
